When Traditional Career Advice Doesn’t Fit Your Brain: ADHD at Work With Kelly George

Time Thu 9/17 • 12PM PDT

Zoom

@ Many professionals with ADHD feel like they’re not living up to their potential at work, but aren’t always sure why. Challenges with focus, follow-through, communication and managing competing demands can impact performance, even when ability is not the issue.  This session offers a practical approach to understanding and navigating ADHD in the workplace. Participants will learn how these patterns show up day to day, how they affect productivity and collaboration, and what to do about them. It will delve into strategies for managing focus and follow-through, as well as identifying or adapting to work environments that better support how you function.  Rather than relying on generic productivity advice, this workshop will examine tools that reflect how ADHD operates in professional settings. Participants will leave with the ability to recognize how ADHD impacts their work and strategies to work with it more effectively. Whether you are formally diagnosed with ADHD, pursuing an ADHD diagnosis, supporting a loved one or colleague with ADHD, or are simply interested in learning more about this topic, this session is open to everyone. ### [UCLA Alumni Affairs](https://alumni.ucla.edu/organizer/ucla-alumni-affairs/) [View Organizer Website](https://alumni.ucla.edu/) Add to calendar * Google Calendar * iCalendar * Outlook 365 * Outlook Live

Fall 2026 Insurance Waiver Deadline (UGRAD/GRAD)

Day Sun 9/20 RSVP

Ashe Center Insurance Office (4th Floor)

The University of California requires that all students have health insurance. UCLA assesses all students for a UCSHIP policy to ensure adequate coverage. Have your own health insurance plan? Learn more about how to waive out and receive a credit to your BruinBill. To fulfill this requirement, UCLA automatically enrolls all registered students in UCSHIP (UC Student Health Insurance Plan) at the start of a new academic year. Each academic term, the UCSHIP health fee is billed through BruinBill along with other UCLA fees. If you are covered by an insurance policy that meets waiver criteria and do not want to utilize UCSHIP benefits, you can request to cancel UCSHIP enrollment by submitting an online waiver application with supporting documentation during a waiver period. Students must obtain an approved health fee waiver each academic year to avoid automatic enrollment in the student health insurance plan. Waiver deadline for Fall 2026 (UGRAD/GRAD) is September 20, 2026.

Orange County Network: Bruins on the Troll Trail

Time Sun 9/20 • 10:15AM PDT

@ Step into a storybook morning with OC Bruins at South Coast Botanic Garden, where Thomas Dambo’s larger-than-life trolls turn a garden stroll into a playful field study. Join fellow UCLA alumni on Sunday, Sept. 20, for a self-guided group visit to Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: A Field Study, featuring 12 whimsical sculptures crafted from reclaimed wood and tucked throughout the Garden’s 87 acres. We’ll meet at 10:15 a.m. before our 10:30 a.m. ticketed entry time, which has a firm start. Please plan to arrive on time so the group can gather and enter together. We’ll add a Bruin twist with a photo scavenger hunt: explore the grounds, find the trolls, and capture your most creative poses for a lighthearted photo challenge. Learn more about the exhibit on the Garden’s website: https://southcoastbotanicgarden.org/thomas-dambos-trolls-a-field-study/ This is a relaxed, social way to spend time outdoors, discover one of the South Bay’s standout garden experiences, and connect with Bruins through art, nature, and a little creativity. Space is limited to 15 adult attendees. Registration is $18 and includes general admission to South Coast Botanic Garden, including access to the TROLLS exhibit. Please note: Registration fees are non-refundable, as event costs are planned. The Trolls experience may include more remote and rugged areas of the Garden, with uneven terrain, narrow paths and slopes. Guests should be comfortable walking and standing for the duration of the visit. Please be respectful of Garden paths, plantings, fellow visitors, and exhibit guidelines while enjoying the scavenger hunt. By attending, you acknowledge that photos may be taken and used in future OC Bruins or UCLA Alumni communications. We hope you’ll join us for a morning of art, nature, Bruin connection, and memorable troll photos. Registration includes general admission to South Coast Botanic Garden and access to the TROLLS exhibit. ### [Orange County Network](https://alumni.ucla.edu/organizer/orange-county-network/) [View Organizer Website](https://alumni.ucla.edu/network/orange-county-network/) Add to calendar * Google Calendar * iCalendar * Outlook 365 * Outlook Live
