Avoiding Plagiarism Workshop

This workshop provides an overview on the various forms of academic dishonesty regarding plagiarism. Participants will learn when, where, and why it is important to cite properly. Students will also learn how to avoid plagiarism and the information presented will stress the need to attribute work to the original author and the potential outcomes for plagiarizing. Additionally, paraphrasing, and direct quoting will be discussed. ZOOM. Register through MyUCLA by going to Campus Life> Calendar> Event Reservations> Find Events.

Join the San Diego Bruin community for a festive evening of fellowship, kindness, and Bruin spirit. We’ll gather in the beautiful Lafayette lobby at 4:00 PM to mix, mingle, take photos, and celebrate the season together. Alumni, family, and friends are all welcome. Come dressed in your UCLA swag, holiday attire, ugly sweaters, or cultural pieces that help showcase the joy, warmth, and spirit of this season. Whether you are reconnecting with old friends, meeting new Bruins, or bringing loved ones into the Bruin family, this will be a cheerful way to close the year in community. Date: December 5 Lobby Gathering: 4:00 PM at The Lafayette At 5:00 PM, 10 seats will be available for those who RSVP at Quixote for dinner Dinner: 5:00 PM at Quixote Dinner seating: Limited to 10 For those that do not RSVP for dinner, the LaFayette grounds are plentiful and there is a diner option for dinner or bites poolside. Wear your blue and gold, your festive best, or whatever makes you feel joyful. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! * * * Site info: Quixote is an Oaxaca-inspired restaurant and mezcalería inside The Lafayette Hotel. The current menu leans toward shareable plates: guacamole, lentil spread, spicy tuna tostada, huitlacoche tamal, pulpo, Oaxacan fondue, crab corn doughnut, memelita with duck carnitas and black mole, tacos, whole grilled fish, lamb belly, tasajo, flan, fritters, and seasonal ice creams/sorbets. It also has a mezcal- and cocktail-forward beverage menu for guests 21+. For people who do not get one of the 10 Quixote dinner seats, The Lafayette still has other on-site options. Beginner’s Diner is listed as open 24/7, with breakfast, dinner specials, weekend brunch, and “night lunches,” so guests can still grab food nearby before or after the lobby gathering. Parking: The Lafayette offers valet parking for day guests when space permits. Current day valet parking is listed at $15, with cars retrieved by 1:00 AM. Street parking may also be available in the surrounding North Park neighborhood, but please plan extra time and be thoughtful of residents. Carpooling and rideshare are encouraged, especially since The Lafayette is a popular holiday-season destination.
